Follow the story.
Check the sources.
NewsLift brings together fresh headlines from a range of publishers, then lets the community help useful reporting rise.
Three signals, out in the open.
Community votes
Verified members can vote up or down. The displayed vote total is upvotes minus downvotes. Each account gets one vote per story, and can change or remove it.
Source coverage
We group headlines that appear to cover the same event using conservative headline similarity and a 36-hour window. A publisher group counts once, even when it publishes multiple articles.
Freshness
New stories get room to surface. Publisher feeds are checked every 15 minutes; the public feed shows stories published in the past seven days.
What a higher rank means.
More positive votes and broader source coverage increase a story's ranking. Older stories gradually move down. “Latest,” “Most sources,” and “Community picks” let you prioritize a single signal.
These are discovery signals, not a truth score. Several publishers may repeat the same wire report or be mistaken together. We count named publisher groups, not independently verified investigations, and matching headlines may disagree on the details. The source trail lets you read and compare the original reporting.
Original reporting belongs to its publisher.
NewsLift displays RSS headlines and publisher-supplied preview images with attribution and sends readers to the publisher for the full article. It does not republish full stories or bypass paywalls. Publishers and photographers retain ownership of their content. Publisher logos identify the source; they do not imply a partnership.
